Finding the right photographer for your wedding day can be a daunting task. You only get “one shot” at getting this right and therefore you want to make sure that you have found the right person who can meet your expectations.

Every wedding is unique and capturing it should reflect the couple’s personality. No doubt every couple will have many questions about the photographer such as his style, personality, what is included in his package and price.

I will try to answer most of your questions by way of Q&A which will hopefully assist in your effort in finding the ‘right’ photographer.

My philosophy as a wedding photographer is not only to create and capture beautiful images of your wedding but to also give you a truly beautiful experience so that years down the track when you look at the photos it will stir your emotions.

 

Where am I based?

I am a Perth wedding photographer based in Western Australia. I travel around Western Australia or worldwide for a nominal fee. I would always encourage a meeting with every couple before their wedding day but this is not always possible due to geographical constraints. In such instances, emails, skype and phone are the keys. I have captured many couples where I met them for the first time on their wedding day.

 

What is my style of work?

My style can be described as refreshingly chic, fun and hip. Most importantly I will try to capture your personality and the genuine emotions. Hopefully by this stage you would have seen some images from my website. Do the images move you? Everyone is different in terms of the style that they like. Do you prefer relaxed, candid, non-cheesy pose, or intimate, romantic or adventurous and contemporary edge or cute and fun shots or elegant and formal? You may actually like a bit of the different styles. This is where I meet and get to know you. I want the style of my images to say something about you both as a couple.

 

I have heard many couples were disappointed with their photographer and how do I know I will not as well?

Hopefully the images on my website will speak for itself. Many photographers will only showcase a few images from different weddings on their website that will ‘wow’ the audience. However in my website gallery I wanted to show you images for the entire wedding from start to finish so that you can judge for yourself the style and consistency in quality across the entire day. I am also happy to provide you with testimonials from couples that I have recently worked with.

 

I am not fond of the camera. Will you be in my face all day with your camera?

I prefer working in the background so that you will feel comfortable. I will capture candid and natural moments that no one else saw. The feedback that I get often is that they don’t even realised I am there and that I have made it so easy and fun for them. I will get to know you well so that on your wedding day you will see me as an important guest rather than a supplier.

 

I do not know how to pose and I am worried I may not look good on camera.

Don’t worry, you are in good hands! It is my job to make you look good. I will provide guidance and directions to the bridal party on the day without putting you in awkward poses. I will make sure that your images look candid, natural and real! My experience in wedding as well as in fashion, beauty and portrait photography will ensure that you look your best in every photo.

 

What time do you start and finish?

I do not work to any timeline. I start as early as I need to and finish late in the night but no later than 10.30pm in order to capture the complete story. I just charge a flat price for the whole day. There is no overtime fee. You do not need to tailor your wedding schedule around me. I will tailor my start and end time to capture your wedding. You can get your hair and makeup person to start early if you want to or you can have your speeches, cake cutting or first dance late in the night and I will stay to capture that.

What if there is bad weather on the day?

We will put together a contingency plan for bad weather. You will have the peace of mind that if we are unable to do the location shoot, I will arrange to do it with you another day so that you are guaranteed the images.

 

Will it be you or another photographer who turns up on the day?

I personally shoot every wedding, liaise with you throughout the planning stage and perform the image retouching work myself so there will be no surprises to you.

 

Do I get to keep the images or do I have to order the images from you?

My philosophy is simple. I believe every couple should be entitled to the images. It is a shame if you love the images but cannot afford to order the album or the print. Therefore I will provide you with all the digital images after they have been retouched. Your images will not be watermarked. They are yours to keep. I will provide you with a high resolution version for making prints and a medium resolution version that you can use for social media and emailing.

 

Do you offer the complete package with albums?

Yes. You have the option to order an album through me. I genuinely want to help every couple to own a beautiful professionally made wedding album. I will help you design and order the album at supplier price. The great thing too is that you do not have to commit to it right away. You can think about it and come to me after the wedding when you are ready to order the album.

 

Will there be any hidden charges?

There is no hidden charges if your wedding is in Perth. There is just the flat fee and cost of the album (if you order one). The cost of the album is the cost that I pass on from the professional album maker. There is a travelling allowance for wedding outside of Perth Metropolitan depending on the location but it will only be a nominal fee.

 

How do I know if I like you or comfortable with you?

Most couples describe my personality as friendly, easy going, fun yet professional. It is important that I build that rapport with you so that on your wedding day you will feel comfortable with me and enjoy every moment of it. I often meet the couple for a cuppa and a chat so that they can find out if I ‘click’ with them.
